EFFE Festival Label - 6 days to go!

Last week Wednesday, December 3rd, 3500 users had registered on the webiste: EFFE.eu. 533 festivals in 28 European countries had submitted their applications. Among these 65 festivals were French, 26 Finnish and 21 Swedish. But between 60 and 100 Swedish festivals (users) had registered. That shows the possibility to reach 50 festivals in Sweden.

Music festival winns Gala-award

The 21st November saw the premiere of the Gods & Gårder-gala at the Nordic Museum and the Fair Grand Antiques. The festival Music in Castles and  Manor Houses in Sörmland got the price as the Event of the Year's while they celebrated 25 years since its inception.

Umeå Jazzfestival was awarded IMPRA-GULD 2014

Umeå Jazz Festival continues to attract the top of the world jazz and improvisation. And of course, put a particular focus on artists from Europe during Umeå's Capital of Culture in 2014. Now the festival has also been awarded IMPRA-GOLD 2014! A prize wit the purpose to support and promote female jazz/improvisation/electronica/alternative musicians, especially because there is a significant shortage of them in these genres.

The EFFE deadline has been pushed to 15 December

The photo shows the EFFE Steering Committee at their inaugural meeting in Lucerne, Switzerland, 30 November, to discuss the progress and future of the project. The meeting was hosted by the Swiss Hub swissfestivals and the Luzern Festival.

Young festival leaders gain educational support in West Sweden

Beirut 21 to 27 March 2015? Young festival leaders in West Sweden who want to join the European Festivals Association 's week-long atelier can get the course paid by the Cultural Committee of Västra Götalands regionen. Deadline is October 31, so hurry and APPLY NOW ! Register for the course at EFAs website via the link below, if you are accepted the Cultural Committee pay the tuition fee (20 000) and travel (5000 SEK). Please note that if your festival is a member of Swedish Music Festivals the tuition fee is 30% lower.

Umeå Jazz Festival final concerts coming up

For the fourth year in succession Umeå Jazz Festival ends with a program called My Kind of Jazz , where some of Umeå's music profiles come together on stage. Here are both musicians and jazz artists , we do not associate with Umeå's jazz music scene. Unexpected encounters that uncovers ideas about what jazz is or may be. After intensive rehearsals with a house band and our guest musical director - saxophonist , arranger and composer Jonas Knutsson -  the audience are now invited to new versions of jazz standards and original music . But before we have 15 concerts on Saturday left to go.

EFFE Label attracts thousands of festivals across Europe

Dealine for the application is extended until 15 december 2014!                                                  On 20 October 1771 festivals had registered and started applying for The EFFE Festival Label. Fifteen were Swedish . But just as our neighbours in Denmark and Finland, we started late and the numbers will certainly increase. The countries that made most progress so far is France with 255 registered festivals, but also countries like Romania , Portugal, Belgium and Italy with more than 100 applicants festivals each.

Irelands Minister of Culture urge festivals to apply EFFE

Irish Minister for Arts, Heritage and Gaeltacht Heather Humphreys  welcomes Irish Festivals and Events to apply for a New European Festival Label .

“This is a unique pilot project to promote the wonderful arts and cultural events that we have in abundance, to a wider European audience through the support of the Commission and I warmly congratulate A.O.I.F.E. on being a National Hub for the project”.

Vincent Baudriller to Head EFFE's International Festival Jury

The President for the International Festival Jury, the body that will guide the Europe for Festivals – Festivals for Europe – EFFE process and select the EFFE Festival Award recipients, has just been confirmed and will be Vincent Baudriller. Mr. Baudriller is the current Director of the Théâtre Vidy Lausanne in Switzerland. He was the Director of the Avignon Festival from 2004 to 2013 together with Hortense Archambault. He is a truly talented leader in the festival world and will add a high-level profile to both EFFE as a platform and the EFFE Festival Awards.
