Webbinarium - European Festival Forest

October 16 3:00 PM-4:00 PM - Planting trees in the European Festivals Forest - webinar
Sustainability is an important issue among festival and event organizers. How can you bring a lot of people together in one place while minimizing your environmental footprint? A major environmental culprit is of course transportation, but food, disposable items and waste management are also a challenge.
It is wise to show your audience that you are taking responsibility for the environment. The vast majority of festival visitors are happy to help. Therefore, profiling your festival with a commitment to the environment strengthens your brand.
The European Festivals Forest is an initiative from EFA, the European Festivals Association. The aim is to create a concrete opportunity for festivals throughout Europe to offset their carbon footprint. Here, all festivals that want to get involved can plant trees and contribute to the regrowth of forests, which counteracts the greenhouse effect.
The Västra Götaland Region Cultural Administration together with Sweden Festivals have invited project leaders Peter Florence (UK) and Tamar Brüggemann (NL) to tell you all about the festival forest. Where is it located, what is its use and how can you as a festival join in?
The project leaders are themselves festival organizers in their respective home countries. Tamar Brüggemann is the leader of the Wonderfeel festival in the Netherlands, and Peter Florence is the leader of The Conversation at St Martin-in-the-Fields in the UK.
The webinar will be held mainly in English, with Carita Forslund, VGR Cultural Administration and Erik Palm, Sweden Festivals as the program hosts. There will be a presentation followed by a question and answer session/discussion.
The Teams link will be sent out to those of you who have registered shortly before the webinar.
A warm welcome to a conversation about events and sustainability!
