City space and festivals

How can festivals better use the city space and how to programme a festival with a Nordic-Baltic theme? These are key issues in the Nordic Baltic Festival Platforms conference in Vilnius 3 to 4 November 2016. The Foreign Minister of Lithuania inaugurates the conference at 13 on Thursday, composer Gediminas Gelgotas are the main speaker and then follows the conference with festival organizers from across Europe in each and every discussion and talks. Grand evening programs, dinners and time for personal networking are included in the conference fee. The current fee is 109 euros.

Check! 2016 Organized by MAIS (Music Organizers in Collaboration), Kultur i Väst, UngdomKultur, Kammarmusikförbundet, Sweden Festivals and supported by the Swedish Arts Council. Soon to come: EFFE 2017 and 2019

Sweden Festivals is delighted to learn that the European Commission selected the European Festivals Association to implement the Preparatory Action to create an EU Festival award and an EU Festival label in the field of culture. This means that EFA can continue to develop the EFFE Label and EFFE Award in the next three years.

From Guitar Festival in Uppsala to Jazz Festival in Umeå

This year's edition of Uppsala XIII International Guitar Festival ended October 9 with Anoushka Shankar on sitar. The festival includes workshops, lectures, master classes, exhibition, film shows, concerts and the International Young Talents compettion. The festival, focusing on the guitar, include all music genres, takes place at Uppsala Konsert & Kongress, in 4-packed days, is Sweden's foremost guitar manifestation. From October 26 to 30 we change focus to the 49th edition of Umeå Jazz Festival.

Musikverket announces new call for festivals

Musikverekt is launching a call for music festivals that want to develop gender equality at 2017 year festivals. The round opens 3 October and deadline for applications is 24 October. Support can be used to fund artistic content and an equal artistic bookings at music festivals 2017. Both festivals that are actively working with gender issues today and festivals that want to work with equality in 2017, may seek support.

Musik på Slottet - anrik festival annorlunda innehåll

Right now Royalfestivals are taking place. The festival has existed for more than 40 years. Within the walls strict protocol rules which makes it difficult to run an artistic festival in the Royal Palace. In Rikssalen and Karl XV-salen, Mats Liljefors for many years had a classical music festival. Since a few years Anna Eklund Tarantino is responsible and now more contemporary music, folk and world music is entering the festival. This year the festival highlights minorities and stages a Mozart opera together Fröjelgårdens accommodation for refugees.
