Sweden Festivals - several new members

As we enter the festival year 2016, Sweden Festivals have been joined by seven new members displaying several art forms. The new members - in the order of events during the year - Tempo Documentary Festival, Stockholm, Gammestaden Jazz Festival, Gothenburg, Mossagårdsfestivalen, Veberöd in Skåne, Nordic Song Festival, Hudiksvall, Stålboga Kulturfestival, Malmköping, The Ingmar Bergman International Theatre Festival, Stockholm and Malmö Chamber Music, Malmo. Sweden Festivals - new orientation, new board

Swedish Music Festivals has transfered to SWEDEN Festivals and adapted to a broader membership!

From an organization for Swedish music festivals with the main task to do marketing for its members, it is now broadening its focus. The association is a cooperation and advocacy organization for Swedish festivals in all areas of the art. As we enter 2016, Sweden Festivals have new members among film- and theatre festivals and festivals with multiple cultural expressions.

The tasks for Västmanlandsmusiken goes beyond the orchestra

Swedens free operating concert organizers have followed the developments in Västmanlandsmusiken with great concern. The successful public opinion to preserve the Sinfonietta is completely understandable, but now that it has been decided to keep the orchestra without adding additional resources, we risk that the regions other activities will suffer. It is important to ensure that Västmanlandsmusiken continues to have a broad mandate to includ the exemplary musical activity . Writes Vanessa Labañino, President of MAIS.

Festival Academy Budapest - extended deadline to 8 November

The Festival Academy, an initiative of the European Festivals Association (EFA), has extended the application deadline for the Atelier for Young Festival Managers in Budapest, Hungary, until 8 November! The Atelier will take place from 2 to 8 June 2016 in Budapest, cultural hub of Hungary, in collaboration with the Armel Opera Festival. We want to give the opportunity to more festival managers to participate in this unique anniversary edition, at a time when Hungary is at the centre of attention in Europe.

CHECK! 2015 - register before 2 November

International Chamber Music in Sweden collaborates with Sweden Festivals

The project has already lasted three years ran by the Swedish Chamber Music Association, in collaboration with 11 regional music organizations and with financial support from Statens Musikverk. During these three years, 125 concerts with seven international chamber music groups have been presented at more than 50 venues across the country. Starting from the summer of 2016 we can also offer a summer production aimed at festivals and other organizers of chamber music in the country. 2016 it is Ifagiolini.

Lyckå Chamber Music Festival join MusMA

Lyckå Chamber Music Festival in Karlskrona is a new member of MusMA - Music Masters on Air. Along with a number of important festivals in Europe they will commission and perform - in cooperation with their national radio stations - new works by young composers.  The works will be played at festivals and distributed via the EBU to radio listeners in many countries.

EFFE - new website and a digital exhibition launched

Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe has launched a new interactive website. Here you can search all the festivals that received the EFFE label in several ways and read about the 12 festivals that got the EFFE Award in Paris in September. A partnership with Google Institute has resulted in a digital exhibition called FESTIVALS - THE HEART OF EUROPE. The website guide is also available as a book that can be ordered through the website. The website further include a page open to any festival in Europe; here the art professionals can meet, share information and co-operate.

Awards for Top 12 Festivals in Europe Announced

250 festival representatives from across Europe gathered in Paris on 27 September for the announcement of the first ever EFFE Awards. An International Jury, presided over by Vincent Baudriller, Director of Théâtre Vidy in Lausanne, rewarded 12 of the most trend-setting European festivals of this year from a pool of 760 festivals from 31 countries.
