During two intensive days 12-13 October, 27 delegates from Iceland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Faroe Islands, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia (Denmark and Greenland was absent this time) fmet to develop and concretize the future collaboration between festivals in the Nordic-Baltic area. The meeting included the first presentation of FESTudy - the largest European study of festivals ever done - by Lluis Bonet from University of Barcelona..

Lluis Bonet, Director of the Cultural Management Programme, University of Barcelona is coming to Stockholm on the invitation of the Association of Swedish Music Festivals to present the preliminary results and tendencies of the European Study of festivals (FESTudy).
Swedish Music Festivals has been granted support from The Nordic Culture Fund and Music Development and Heritage Sweden to arrange a Nordic-Baltic festival meeting and a member’s conference 12-13 October 2012. The meeting is a follow-up to the Nordic-Baltic festival conference arranged by SMF in collaboration with the concert hall Harpa, Reykjavik, in October 2011.
ECPNM – European Conference of Promoters of New Music – arranges the 6th European competition for composition and performance of live-electronic music projects. Selected projects will be performed for the first time at the Gaudeamus Music Week in Utrecht in September 2013. The final application date is 1 April 2013.
EFA recently celebrated its 60th anniversary; 23-25 May in Bergen, Norway. 180 delegates from 46 countries and African, Asian and Middle Eastern festival networks, as well as European and Norwegian politicians and representatives from the city of Bergen, took part. Swedish Music Festivals and the other participants were invited to experience a grand opera performance, a gala dinner at the Flöien restaurant with a view over the city, speeches, a conference, the customary EFA general assembly, and an unusually warm and sunny weather. The African network for festivals and events – AFRIFESTNET – was formed in Accra, Ghana, on 20 April 2012. It includes festivals and events in theatre, music, dance, film, literature, visual arts, cultural heritage and multidisciplinary forms of art. AFRIFESTNET is an initiative by Arterial Network in collaboration with among others the British Council. The photo shows the newly formed board. See more photos from the meeting in Accra.

The EFA Atelier for young festival organisers focuses on the artistic aspects of working with festivals, for instance the artistic vision, political and social responsibility, internationalisation, networking, innovation, and sustainability. EFA is currently accepting applications for the 2012 Atelier, which will take place in Ljubljana, 14-21 October.
