Welcome to CHECK!2018 - register NOW!

NOW YOU CAN REGISTER FOR CHECK! 2018. November 10-11 at Karlsgatan 2 in Västerås. This year, Paul Gudgin, who lectures on festivals and events throughout the world, will play a central role. He holds six lectures and workshops. Oterwise it's CHECK! as usual. This year, as last year, Region Västmanland will host the conference.

Closing News - Atelier Gothenburg 2018

On 29 August The Festival Academy (an initiative of the European Festivals Association, EFA) officially closed the 14th edition of the Atelier for Young Festival Managers, taking place in Gothenburg, Sweden from 23 - 29 August 2018, co-organised with Kultur I Väst, the cultural administration of the Region Västra Götaland in collaboration with

Umefolk - new member of Sweden Festivals

Umefolk is one of the largest folk music festivals in Sweden, and is held every year in the last weekend of February. Next time is 21-24 February. It is a festival for everyone that are interested in folk music and dance; we create meeting places for old and young, amateurs and professionals, dancers and musicians. The festival has a wide program with concerts, dancing, shows, workshops and activities for children.

The EU initiative Music Moves Europe

Apply for EU support from the new Music Moves Europe-initiative by August 27 or September 10, 2018 respectively. The EU Commission has calls for the music sector in Europe in the new move "Music Moves Europe". It was at the end of last year that the European Parliament decided on a pilot initiative, a so-called Preparatory Action, which is now being launched.

From castle to barn - Swedens wild grown festival flora

One factor is always needed for a festival to gain vitality: a burning soul, a spark. Such a person existed already 1946 when Church musician Nilsson in Väsby started Musik i Kullabygden - it is considered the starting point for Swedish music festivals and has been celebrated annually. Nilsson is gone but the support organization Kullabygden's musikfrämjande lives and works.

Artists to TourFest selected!

In four of five tours under the TourFest pilot project, it is now decided which artists are going on tour. The organisers have made their choice and during two intense weeks in November, the following constellations will hit the roads: Jazz: Anders Hagberg - Melodic Melange; World Music: Guro's Quintet GKN 5; Sing-songwriter artist: Loke and Classical Music: Ensemble Odd Size. Contemporary Art Music began their process selecting artists very late and do not yet have a candidate.
