One week left to apply! First Atelier for Young Festival and Cultural Managers taking place in China, Shanghai, 17 until 23 October 2017 - Apply before 31 March 2017. The course fee is 2100 euro.
Now all of you who did not have the time to apply before the weekend get a second chance. The application period is extended to February 24th at 23:59 hours. I hope it might be a carrot to everyone who applied in 2015 and got the EFFE Label to apply again. But also for you who are seeing this for the first time to take the opportunity and apply NOW! Sweden Festivals, the Swedish hub, will assists all applicants who experience problems. The second edition of Nordic Showcase invite you to two full evenings of concerts, with seminars, receptions and excursions on top, and it’s all for free. Thursday and Friday 16-17th March we fill Dunkers Kulturhus in Helsingborg, southern Sweden, with some of the best acts that the Nordic Folk scene has to offer. The lineup ranges from the Finnish wizard of diatonic accordion Antti Paalanen to Norway’s legendary Valkyrien (formerly Valkyrien Allstarts) to up and coming Swedish folk rock band Skenet.

This summer Ebba Witt-Brattströms famous novel "Århundradets kärlekskrig" is staged as an opera, music composed by Paula af Malmborg Ward, libretto by Mathias Clason and directed by Niklas Hjulström. "Kärlekskriget" (The War of Love), which the opera is called is produced in cooperation with Västmanlands Länsteater. Starring Anna Larsson, contralto and Lars Arvidson, baritone, and Amelia Jakobsson, soprano.
The 18th edition of Sweden’s largest documentary festival is here! Tempo has grown, matured and become even larger. That is celebrated by expanding to 18 locations around Stockholm. All 18 year olds are offered a free season ticket to the festival. The main theme of Tempo Documentary Festival 2017 is (un)truth, something that permeates both films, radio, photos and conversations. The theme has a natural connection to the documentary narration – whose reality is depicted and how do we deal with the truth when stories are shaped?

February, two Coordinators, both on half-time basis, was hired. The purpose of the mission is to create better conditions for the free active professional musicians and spread their operations to more locations and more people. The European Festivals Association is proud and honoured to announce the President of the EFFE International Jury 2017-2018: Sir Jonathan Mills. He will chair the second edition of EFFE - Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe, implementing the EU’s ambition to establish a new European Label for Festivals. Sir Jonathan Mills is a prominent, Australian-born composer and festival director. His work including several operas and works for chamber ensemble and orchestra has been recognised by awards from the governments of Australia, Great Britain, France, Poland and South Korea.

EFFE allows you who manage a festival, to apply for two-year European label for your festival. European Festivals Association (EFA) organizes EFFE on behalf of the EU. EFFE is a programme for festivals and believes that it is an important advantage for Europe’s festivals to be recognised by their peers and the European Union for their outstanding quality and work.
