The season starts at Drottningholm

On May 25th the new season starts at Drottningholm Slottsteater! Then follows a packed summer that lasts until september 14. It all starts with Cimarosas most famous comic opera and then becomes more and more Mozart. Sopranos and mezzos like Anne Sofi von Otter and Elin Rombo, Susanne Rydén, Anna Järvinen and acclaimed Julia Lezhneva - with Sweden debut - are making entrances and exits on the historic stage. The season's main production is Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito directed by Sigrid T'hooft. After last year's success with Orlando paladino, she returns to interpret an opera seria according to the concept: Historically Informed Performance.
Drottningholm Slottsteater starts a collaboration with the Baltic Sea Festival; members of the Swedish Radio Choir makes up the chorus in La Clemenza di Tito and on 26 and 27 August they stage a star-studded interpretation of Mozart's opera the Magic Flute with the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Swedish Radio Choir conducted by Daniel Harding. The unique concept is directed by Andrew Staples who also sing Tamino.
