Gotland Chamber Music Festival

For more than 30 years, Staffan Scheja has run the Gotland Chamber Music Festival. The 2018 edition of the chamber music festival takes place July 23-27. The original idea was to invite and stage Swedish and international top musicians, socialize and do concerts at Gotland.  

"I am very grateful that so many artists, despite hectic concert tours around the world, return year after year and make the festival an exciting musical meeting place," said Staffan. For each year, I also have the pleasure of presenting some young very promising artists.  

The chamber music is mixed with jazz music, visors and other exciting elements. Over the years, the festival has become an important part of the culture of the island of Gotland. St. Nicolai ruin in Visby is the main arena but concerts are also held in several of the island's medieval churches and in the Blåse Kalkbruksmuseum.
