New Swedish music on festivals

This summer The Swedish Composers Society (FST) and the Association of Swedish Music Festivals (SMF) has launched a new collaboration with the aim to spread the music of contemporary Swedish composers on the classic summer music festivals across Sweden. In 2013 the cooperation resulted in eight concerts with new Swedish music at seven festivals.
The cooperation, with the name "New Swedish music on festivals" is an audience development project created on a joint initiative from the two organizations. The classic summer music festivals are offered subsidised concerts by ensembles that play new, Swedish music. FST encourages festivals with concerts also to arrange concert introductions or seminars with the composers.
– From the FSTs site is the idea to create an incentive for each festival to play more music by our living composer, and less of the foreign dead, says Martin Q L, himself a composer and Chairman of the FST.
– The Association Swedish composers have music, festivals, practitioners and the public. We are very excited about this partnership and look forward to this summer's experiences and events, "said Peter Eriksson, President of Swedish Music festivals.
