MADE 2014 - what comes next...?

MADE (Music, Art, Dance, Experience), the first festival in spring, is a trans-national performing arts festival, which since 2006 has brought together artists and performers with a brave and curious audience creating unforgettable meetings and moments. A festival at the European Cultural Capital Umeå2014 open its gates. At the same time, Swedish Performing Arts are organising their General Assembly in the city, ... and enjoy the festival.
This year's program include the first public performance of the work of Yoko Seyama Saiyah, Benjamin Stearn and Christian Karlsen, desert blues band Tinariwen, street dance-choreographer and poet Anne Nguyen, a symphonic recomposition of the last record of the hardcore band Refused and My Great Sorrow.
This year's theme is "WHAT COMES NEXT with the presumption that the future is already here.
At all times we have wondered about the future and created stories about it. Artists from different disciplines have described our time as a dystopia, sometimes as a utopia. In Umeå, we live in the European Capital of Culture year that for so long seemed distant, a future year of changes and new monuments. During MADE, we would like to land right here and now, but also look to the future together with the artists and audience.
So, the future is already here. What happens next?
