New assignment to enhance Swedish Music Life

Now it's here! Musikverket has given MAIS a national assignment to develop new cooperative structures for live music in Sweden. The mission aims to create better long-term structures for the live music throughout the country. MAIS is an association consisting of ten music federations in Sweden representing more than 1500 organisers of live music. Sweden Festivals is a MAIS-member.

The assignment include that, together with the music industry stakeholders explore how the music scene may improve collaboration in concert and tour production. The goal is to find long-term models that promote co-productions and tours across regions and to improve the capability to reach out with live music throughout Sweden. MAIS shall, within the framework of the agreement, cooperate with all parts of musical life, ie regional music organizations, concert halls, festivals, production companies and other players who are working to expand the number of meetings between live music and audience.The project targets the free music scene, that means freely active professional, Swedish or international, musicians, composers, producers and organizers in Sweden.

In early October, MAIS signed the agreement with Musikverket and are now ready to start the work. The first step is to recruit a steering committee representing various parts of Swedish music life. Also Coordinaters to initiate a dialogue with the relevant partners will be recruited. Throughout the project, MAIS, will work with practical pilot versions of tour development.

The entire mission is estimated to four million SEK paid in different installments during the assignment period that is from October 2017 to August 2019. In the first phase MAIS ar getting two million SEK.
