The Vilnius conference - the best so far!

The 2nd edition of the NordicBaltic Festival Platform (NBFP) Conference took place on 3-4 November in Vilnius, Lithuania. The conference brought together 70 managers and artistic directors of festivals from all fields of art to exchange ideas and best practices, make new connections and explore various possibilities for cooperation, and to visit some of the arts shows in Vilnius.

The conference included presentations by central figures in the Nordic-Baltic culture scene, such as Gediminas Gelgotas, founder / artistic director and conductor of Ensemble NI&Co (Lithuania); Marcus Haggeman, head of the Secretariat of ARS BALTICA (Germany); Hugo Ticciati, violinist / director of the O/MODERNT Festival (Sweden); Paul Gudgin, director of the Durham International Brass Festival and Former Director of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe (UK), and many others.

During 2 days, it was discussed how to attract people in the region to festivals, how to programme a Nordic-Baltic festival, and how to use city space better in festivals. Additionally, there were presentations on funding possibilities (Creative Europe programme) as well as upcoming acitivities for Europe for Festivals, Festivals for Europe ran by European Festival Association (EFA). Besides, the floor was given to several of the region's festivals and especially 6 selected projects seeking new partnerships.

The 2016 conference was hosted by the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Society, and in part supported by the Nordic Culture Fund. Ideas for the 3rd edition of the NBFP Conference in autumn 2017 are already circulating. For more information follow us on nordicbalticfestivals.org and facebook.
