SAMSPEL - improved coordination for live music in Sweden

MAIS (Music Organisers in Cooperation) have launched Samspel (play together), a state assignment,  with the aim to create better conditions for the free active professional musicians and spread their performances to more locations and more people. In this way, we get a richer and wider music scene in Sweden. In this assignment, pilot operations in the form of models for touring will be implemented in close cooperation with the music scene and the goal is long-term improvement of collaborative structures for touring music nationwide.

The activities of the asignement shall be based on existing structures and focus on coordinating existing resources and that structures are sustainable over time. This requires active work for inclusion and collaboration from the start. A first step in this direction is a newsletter. The aim is that as many interested people as possible to take part and influence what happens as we move on.

MAIS two targets by year-end are (1) to have a designated Steering Group in place, and (2) to recruit two project coordinators (part-time). We can now say that we have concluded the first target. Regarding number two, by 30 November more than 70 people applied to become coordinators. Interviews are to be held in early January, and 2 coordinaters selected by 1 February 2017.
