9th-12th of  January 2025

After five successful festivals, are we now planning our sixth festival as usual as a light in the darkness of January, from Thursday 9th of  January to Sunday 12th of January 2025 with the theme "Beyond the horizon".

Our main stage is the prestigious Kronhuset in Gothenburg and in the typical Frontside spirit, concerts are also placed in unusual places in surprising forms such as Walking Concerts, Coffee Concerts, Pub Evenings, etc.

We are pleased that Swedish Radio P2 is with us in 2025 as a partner, as their commissioned work by Jonatan Sersam results in a premiere in our festival.

GOTHENBURG'S FIRST INTERNATIONAL CHAMBER MUSIC FESTIVAL.

After twelve years of successfully leading the Båstad Chamber Music Festival, clarinetist Karin Dornbusch was approached by entrepreneur Bob Kelly who had an idea to start an international chamber music festival at Röda Sten Konsthall in Gothenburg. A board consisting of, among others, music profiles Paula af Malmborg Ward, Daniel Berg and Tobias Granmo was formed. After intensive work, FRONTSIDE - Gothenburg International Chamber Music Festival opened in January 2019 with an innovative concert program in exciting environments. The concept has been retained and art music from different eras is played, well-known and completely newly written works interspersed with elements of folk music and free improvisation, all at the Swedish and international top level. Young and old are mixed both on stage and in the audience.Based on the port city of Gothenburg's strategic location by the sea and a long tradition of international contacts and exchanges, it was reflected towards each of the four cardinal points during four of the festival's five years, thus forming a cohesive tetralogy. In the midst of the pandemic, the tetralogy had a one-year break, when the festival was organized in streaming form under the theme "Frontside light-Let the music sound!".

So far the festival has been visited by artists such as Zemlinsky Quartet, Esmè Quartet, Bengt Forsberg, Chloë Hanslip, Malin Broman, The Gothenburg Combo, Alastair Beatson, Simon Crawford- Phillips, Maja S.K Ratjke, Frode Haltli, Danny Driver, Mike Svoboda,  Katarina Karnéus, Jacob Kellerman, Hélène Boulègue, UmeDuo, Julien Quentin, Wu Wei, Trio Poseidon, Elin Rombo, Camille Bloche, Hans Davidsson, Azahar Ensemble, Abraham Cupiero, Emilia Amper, Anna Petrini, Dream Orchestra with Ron Alvarez and others. Premieres by composers as f.e Ida Lundèn, Palle Dahlstedt, Frode Haltli, Paula af Malmborg Ward, Daniel Berg, Francisco Coll.
